77. $50
“Seth Thomas, Plymouth Hollow, Connecticut”, copied from label on the back of the
case. The 30-hour, time only movement is also signed Seth Thomas. The movement fits perfectly, no extra holes, the old label on the
back was aged nicely, a little corner missing, glass a replacement, dial has new paint and I believe a new pan. Whoa! Let’s start
over. I knew the clock could not be a Seth Thomas so spent far too much time proving it. The case is a Waterbury Clock Co. 14-inch-high
“Ridgewood” clock case, ca 1881. Someone went to a whole lot of trouble to make a nice looking cheap clock. $50-$100.
78. $50
“New Haven Clock Co., New Haven, Conn.”, wood case mantel clock, “Rarus T. P.”, ca 1880.
The walnut steeple case is 15 ½ inches high, complete and original. I failed to hang the nice nickel pendulum for the picture. I believe
the glass is original, the signed dial is original, nice label on the back and it has a 30-hour time and strike movement. It strikes
hours on a nickel bell. Cheap but nice. Ly-New Haven#1242. $50-$100.
76. $100
“Jerome & Co., New Haven, Conn.”, miniature steeple clock. This walnut veneered case
is 15 ½ inches tall, good veneer except some chips on the base. Excellent original glass, door latch, original dial and hands, old
pendulum and 95% of the paper label inside. The one-day movement is running. The finial tips are like they were when made. A nice-looking
clock, but the nice full glass makes the clock. $100-$200.
75. $100
“Wm. L. Gilbert & Co., Winchester, Conn.”, miniature steeple clock the company named,
“Miniature Sharp Gothic”, ca 1879.The rosewood case is 14 ¾ inches tall, near perfect, clean, polished, and complete. The tablet is
probably a replacement, dial was repainted, has old pendulum, super nice label, old hands, and a 30-hour time only movement. This collector like all miniature clocks, but they had to have very nice wood cases and a good label. I guess he figured he could
have the dials painted and replace glasses if need be. $100-$200.
73. $100
“Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn.”, miniature cottage clock, made as a round top,
full door case. I believe the 9-inch-high case is walnut, clean, polished and has no wood problems. It has a large and polished brass
sash holding a flat glass. There is a good door knob/latch, repainted dial, very good label, brass bell, old pendulum, and an alarm
movement in the base. The one-day movement is their “U” style, time only, and you wind the alarm movement separately. The alarm rings
on the brass bell. Both the movement and label were signed by ST as Thomaston, Conn. $150-$250.
74. $100
“Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn.”, miniature cottage clock with a round top and
full door. Same case as #73 except the bezels and movements are different. This case has an “H” movement and a wood bezel. The dial
has been repainted, hands replaced, very good label, old pendulum, and a 30-hour time only movement that is running. The movement
is signed Seth Thomas, Plymouth, and the label is signed Seth Thomas, Thomaston. $150-$250.
