“Atkins Clock Co., Bristol, Conn.”  “London” model, one of the most successful models made by the company. They came configured many ways and this clock may be the most common, ca 1863. It has plain columns, beautiful rosewood veneered case, gold foil tablets, and stands around 16 ½ inches high. Very nice repainted original dial, hands, great original glasses, door knobs, and complete label remaining inside on the backboard. The movement is 8-day, time, strike and alarm.  It strikes hours on a brass bell and the alarm rings on the same bell. This might be the nicest, cleanest, most original clock in the 350-clock collection we are offering the January and July 2018 auctions.  Reference: “The Clocks of Irenus Atkins”, by Gregory and King, 2004, page 83. “Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co., Winsted, Conn.”, miniature steeple clock named, “Small Sharp Gothic” with a one-day time and alarm movement, ca 1879. The rosewood veneered case is 14 ¾ inches tall, has original glasses and door latch and good veneer all around. The metal dial was repainted, label is all there, has an old pendulum and key and an iron bell for the alarm to sound on. The one-day movement is running and the alarm is working. “Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn.”, miniature steeple clock, “Sharon-1924”, with an 8-day spring, strike, movement. They first introduced these miniature steeple clocks in 1924 and added electric movements to some in 1932. This mahogany case is 14 ¼ inches high, in fine condition with a possibility that the finials are replacements, not sure. Excellent and original glasses, dial, hands, pendulum, coil gong, and the No.89 brass movement. Ly-Seth Thomas #2300. $100-$200.

“New Haven Clock Co., New Haven, Conn.”, miniature steeple clock in a black painted 14-inch-high case. The clock is post 1900, probably 1930’s. It is original and complete, has old glasses, original paper dial on a metal dial pan, old hands, pendulum, coil gong, and most of a paper label on the back. The 8-day movement is running and striking on the coil gong. $50-$100.

“The E. N. Welch Manufacturing Co., Forestville, Conn.”, miniature steeple clock, ca 1864. This rosewood veneered case is 15 inches tall, has nice glasses and door latch, repainted dial on the metal pan, good hands and pendulum, a coil gong, and a complete paper label. The thirty-hour movement is running and striking hours on the coil gong. $75-$150.

“The E. N. Welch Manufacturing Co., Forestville, Conn.”, miniature steeple clock with a 30-hour time only movement, ca 1864. Very similar clock to #356, a rosewood veneered case standing 15 inches tall, has good glasses, door latch, original painted metal dial, old hands and pendulum and a paper label inside. The one-day time only movement is running. $50-$100.

“New Haven Clock Co., New Haven, Conn.”, miniature steeple clock with a 30-hour time and alarm movement, ca 1880. I will call the case mahogany but I don’t think it is. It stands 14 ½ inches high, has some repairs on the base otherwise veneer is good. It has two good glasses and original door latch. As usual inside is a very nice label, old painted metal dial and hands. The 30-hour time movement is running and the alarm sounds on an iron bell. $50-$100.

“Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co., Winsted, Conn.”, miniature steeple clock with a 30-hour time only movement, ca 1875. This case is 14 ¾ inches high and made of rosewood veneer. It is about as perfect as you can get. The glasses are good, the label is perfect, the old painted metal dial is very good, it has an old pendulum and the movement is running. Perfect? No, but close, and it is 150 years old. $75-$150.

“Seth Thomas Clock Co., Plymouth Hollow, Conn.”, Empire style or “Column” as it is simply named in the catalogs, ca 1863. The rosewood veneered case is 19 inches tall with good veneer all over but with a small veneer repair on the bottom edge. The nice glasses are old and surely original. The Dial House touched up the metal dial and put a note on the back that says in part, “this dial has been lightly coated with retouch varnish to protect minor touch-up work.” The dial looks fantastic to me. Behind the dial is an 8-day brass lyre movement signed by ST at Plymouth Hollow. The label is not hardly as nice as the other 349 clocks in this collection but it is probably 75% there. It has an old pendulum, wire gong, hands, and door latch. Ly-Seth Thomas #1759-A. $150-$300.
